About the piece, from the artist:

"These two images were drawn separately in teal and red ink and merged together. The onion was seen as a symbol of life with its many layers by the Greeks. They also used the onion to cure numerous ailments. The three-headed snake disintegrating into bones symbolizes an unpredictable death, waiting to attack at any time. The two images represent a balance of calm life and the terrifying, seductive unknown."
